Other brands have the drum built into the toner cartridge. You don’t have to buy new drums each time but they still need to be replaced periodically. Just be aware though that the drums have to be replaced separately from the toner cartridges so the consumables aren’t quite as cheap as they might seem upon first look.įor example, third party toner cartridges for the Brother are $29.99 but the drum is another $29.99.

If I were buying today, I’d consider buying the Brother MFC-元770CDW since now it’s on sale. A few weeks later it was >$600 at some retailers IIRC. BTW, I bought that Samsung eons ago for $199.99.

I already have a multifunction Samsung M3870FW monochrome laser so I’m keeping that alongside this HP colour laser printer. Then I bought the HP M452dw at Best Buy for $264.99 (currently $549.99 at Staples and $289.99 at Amazon). However, its touchscreen was junk so I returned it. I bought the Canon MF733Cdw multifunction for $299.99 at Staples (currently $399.99 at Staples and $570 at Amazon). There’s always a sale somewhere on a model or three, and then the sale ends but other models take their places to continue the cycle. I’m beginning to think printers are like mattresses. The only bad thing I've read about the 元770 is the ADF feeding a little crooked, which was always a problem with my current Brother DCP 3-in-1. This seems to be a fairly well-regarded printer, though I think the Brother L8900 has lower operating (toner) costs. I don't think Amazon does price matching either? But I'm hoping Amazon drops their price to match, since I have some Amazon GCs I can use. I can't say the 9 Air Miles at Staples would sway me. Supposedly in stock at my local Staples, delivery-only at BB, which might argue for Staples. BB ends May 16/19.įor some reason I thought Staples had a (difference+10%) PM policy like Home Depot and Lowes, but I just see price match.

Retail $550 though it's permanently on sale somewhere (feels that way). Brother MFC-元370CDW 4-in-1 (print/scan/copy/fax) is on sale at Best Buy for $379.99, ends May 16/19.
